White House joins Bluesky and immediately trolls Trump opponents

**The White House Joins Bluesky Social Media Platform**

WASHINGTON — On Friday, the White House officially joined Bluesky, the social media platform favored by many in the left-leaning online community. In its inaugural post, the White House shared a sizzle reel highlighting the administration’s memes, trolls, and messages from President Donald Trump’s nine months since returning to office.

The post appeared aimed at ribbing liberals who are not supporters of the Republican president. It included references to the administration’s executive order renaming the Gulf of Mexico, a doctored image of Democratic House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries wearing a sombrero and a faux mustache, along with a stream of photos and videos showcasing other significant moments from the early months of Trump’s second term.

“What’s up, Bluesky?” the White House wrote alongside the video. “We thought you might’ve missed some of our greatest hits, so we put this together for you. Can’t wait to spend more quality time together!”

Bluesky has attracted a wave of disgruntled users from X (formerly Twitter) following billionaire Elon Musk’s acquisition of the platform in 2022. Although Bluesky remains small compared to established spaces like X, it has grown as an alternative for those seeking a different social media experience.

In addition to the White House, the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Homeland Security also launched Bluesky accounts on Friday. Vice President JD Vance became a Bluesky user in June.

Meanwhile, President Trump continues to favor Truth Social as his social media platform of choice. Trump is the largest shareholder in Trump Media & Technology Group, the company that owns Truth Social.
