CHICAGO (WGN) – A 2-year-old boy and a 30-year-old woman were shot Wednesday night while sitting in a parked vehicle on the South Side.
Chicago police reported that the shooting occurred just after 7:30 p.m. in the 6900 block of South Lafayette Avenue, located in the city’s Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood.
The 2-year-old boy was seated in the back of the vehicle when he was shot in the foot. He was transported to Comer Children’s Hospital and is currently in good condition.
The woman was shot in the knee and taken to University of Chicago Hospital, where she is also reported to be in good condition, according to investigators.
Authorities noted that the woman was unable to provide further details regarding the incident. No arrests have been made at this time.
Area One Detectives are actively investigating the shooting.
