**EXCLUSIVE: Sky Nears Deal to Adapt Frankie Boyle’s Debut Novel into TV Series**
Sky is close to agreeing on a deal to adapt Scottish comedian Frankie Boyle’s debut novel, *Meantime*, into a television series. While nothing has been officially confirmed yet, the Comcast-owned broadcaster is planning to reimagine the story for the small screen.
Described by *The Guardian* as “*Withnail and I* meets James Bond,” *Meantime* is set in Boyle’s hometown of Glasgow. The plot follows Valium addict Felix McAveety, who embarks on a quest for answers after his best friend Marina is found murdered in a local park. Alongside a colorful cast of characters, Felix’s investigation takes viewers on an intriguing journey through Scottish politics, AI, cults, secret agents, smugglers, and even vegan record shops.
The project is being developed by Expectation, the BBC Studios-backed production company behind Amazon Prime Video’s *Clarkson’s Farm* and the BAFTA-winning BBC comedy *Alma’s Not Normal*.
*Meantime* was published in 2022 by Hachette UK’s John Murray Press. Frankie Boyle’s next book, *A Short History Of The Apocalypse*, is slated for release next month.
Boyle is one of the UK’s most well-known comedians, famous for his acerbic wit on television series such as *Mock the Week* and *Frankie Boyle’s New World Order*.
Sky declined to comment on the adaptation at this time.
