Chelsea’s head coach, Enzo Maresca, has been handed a one-match touchline ban and fined £8,000 by the Football Association (FA). The disciplinary action follows his exuberant celebrations during Chelsea’s dramatic 2-1 victory over Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Matchday 7 of the 2025-26 Premier League season.

### The Incident: Over-The-Top Celebrations Lead to Booking

Maresca’s wild celebrations after Chelsea’s last-minute winner caught the attention of referee Anthony Taylor, who issued the manager a second yellow card, resulting in his immediate dismissal to the stands. The FA stated that Maresca exhibited inappropriate behavior and/or used abusive or insulting words or actions during the match.

Following the incident, Maresca admitted the charge and accepted the standard penalty. Consequently, he will serve his one-match touchline ban during Chelsea’s upcoming Premier League fixture against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

### Ban Details: Communication Allowed Despite Suspension

Although Maresca is banned from the touchline, FA regulations permit suspended managers to communicate with their coaching staff. He is allowed to enter the dressing room before kick-off, during half-time, and after the final whistle to give instructions.

This suspension marks Maresca’s second touchline ban since taking charge of Chelsea. His first came in April 2025 after receiving a third yellow card for celebrating Pedro Neto’s injury-time winner against Fulham.

### Post-Match Reflection: Maresca Shares His Thoughts

After the game against Liverpool, Maresca shared his feelings on Instagram, describing the experience as a “beautiful joy for all of us” following a last-minute victory. He also expressed his disappointment at missing the final whistle celebrations with the fans and vowed to focus on recovery and improving the team’s performance moving forward.

### Chelsea’s Current Standing

After seven matches this season, Chelsea sit seventh in the Premier League table with three wins, two draws, and two losses. The Blues have scored 13 goals while conceding 9, showing promise as the season progresses.
