**Shajapur FDA Launches Inspection of Medical Stores Following Toxic Syrup Deaths in Madhya Pradesh**
Shajapur, Madhya Pradesh: In the wake of recent tragic deaths of children in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara and Betul districts caused by toxic ‘Colfrif’ syrup, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) department in Shajapur has initiated a thorough inspection of local medical stores.
On Thursday, FDA officials conducted inspections at eight medical stores across Shajapur to ensure that no banned or substandard quality syrups were available for sale. During the inspection, the team collected eight samples of various cough syrups for laboratory testing.
Drug Inspector Pradeep confirmed that none of the banned brands, including Coldrif—which has been prohibited following the recent incidents—were found at any of the inspected stores. He further stated that the collected samples will undergo chemical analysis, and strict action will be taken against any medical shops found selling low-quality or inferior medicines.
In addition to the inspections, the FDA department has issued stern warnings to all medical store owners throughout the district. Store owners have been directed to strictly comply with drug safety regulations and refrain from stocking or selling any prohibited medicines.
This inspection drive forms part of a larger, ongoing state-wide operation aimed at curbing the sale of unsafe medicinal products. Authorities have reassured the public that multiple safety measures are being implemented to prevent any recurrence of incidents similar to those in Chhindwara and Betul districts.
Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious medicines to the authorities to ensure community health and safety.
