Veteran South African all-rounder Sune Luus has reached a significant milestone by surpassing 2,500 runs in Women’s One Day Internationals (WODIs). The 29-year-old achieved this feat during the ICC Women’s World Cup match against New Zealand at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore, reaching the landmark with her ninth run of the innings. South Africa is currently chasing a target of 232 runs against New Zealand.
### Batting Achievements
Playing her 136th WODI, Luus has accumulated over 2,500 runs at an average exceeding 24, according to ESPNcricinfo. She has recorded 16 scores of 50 or more, including one century. Her strike rate stands around 66. Making her WODI debut back in 2012, Luus has become only the sixth South African woman to cross the 2,500-run mark in this format.
### Bowling Accomplishments
Apart from her batting prowess, Luus is a formidable spinner. She has taken 116 wickets in WODIs at an average of 23.33. Her bowling highlights include three four-wicket hauls and an impressive five five-wicket hauls. In terms of five-wicket hauls in WODIs, she trails only West Indies’ Anisa Mohammed, who has six.
### All-Rounder Excellence
With these achievements, Sune Luus joins an elite group of just eight all-rounders worldwide who have crossed the double milestone of 2,500 runs and 100 wickets in WODIs. Her consistent performances with both bat and ball continue to make her a vital asset for South African women’s cricket.
