**Vande Bharat Train Hits, Kills 4 Laborers in Bihar’s Purnea**

Early on Friday morning, tragedy struck near a level crossing in Kasba town of Purnea district, Bihar, when a Vande Bharat Express train fatally struck four laborers. The incident occurred around 5:00 AM between Kasba and Purnea junctions under the jurisdiction of North Frontier Railways.
The victims, all laborers from a local makhana processing unit, were reportedly trying to cross the railway tracks when the accident happened. There are also reports suggesting that they might have been making social media reels on the tracks at the time.
Munna Kumar, Station Manager at Purnea Junction, said, “A group of youngsters was trying to cross the tracks. Because it was dark and the weather overcast, they could not notice the speeding train in time.”
The deceased were young, aged between 14 and 18 years. A lone survivor of the accident is currently undergoing treatment at the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Purnea.
### Investigation Underway
Railway authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. The Chief Public Relations Officer of Northern Frontier Railways suspects that the victims were making social media reels on the tracks when they were struck by the Jogbani-Danapur Vande Bharat Express.
### Political Response
Purnea Member of Parliament Pappu Yadav condemned the tragedy and attributed it to administrative negligence. He demanded compensation of ₹20 lakh each for the families of the deceased from the Railways. “Those who died are from my region; they were from Dalit families. I demand strong action be taken against those responsible,” he stated.
The accident has raised concerns over safety measures near railway tracks, especially in areas where unauthorized crossing is common. Authorities continue to review safety protocols to prevent such incidents in the future.
