Ireland Poised to Blunt Sanctions on Israel Under Corporate Pressure, Say Sources
Ireland’s government has been one of the most outspoken critics of the war in Gaza. However, unlike other European countries such as Spain, Ireland hosts the European headquarters of several major US companies.
This unique position has reportedly influenced the Irish government’s approach, with sources suggesting that corporate pressure may be leading Ireland to soften potential sanctions on Israel.
A recent protest in Dublin highlighted public sentiment on the issue. Demonstrators held a banner featuring images of Ireland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade and Minister for Defence, Simon Harris, alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The protest was in support of Palestinians in Gaza and took place on May 17, 2025.
