Capital markets regulator SEBI has launched two new initiatives aimed at strengthening investor payment security. These initiatives, known as Validated UPI Handles and SEBI Check, are designed to prevent fraudulent fund collections and enhance trust in India’s securities market.
The Validated UPI Handles feature helps identify legitimate intermediaries, ensuring that investors make payments to authorized entities. This reduces the risk of falling victim to scams involving fake payment handles.
In addition, SEBI Check allows investors to verify bank details before making any transactions. This verification step adds another layer of protection, giving investors confidence that their funds are being transferred securely.
Together, these tools represent a significant step forward in safeguarding investor interests and promoting a transparent and trustworthy environment in India’s capital markets.
