What events and deals are on offer for National Day celebrations in Hong Kong?

Hong Kong will celebrate the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China on Wednesday. During the National Day holiday week, locals and tourists are expected to make 8.8 million cross-border trips, marking a 20 percent increase over last year’s figure.

As the city prepares for the celebrations, a variety of activities and special offers have been announced for October 1. These include free public transport rides, restaurant promotions, and a series of events to mark the occasion.

### Celebration Events on October 1

A flag-raising ceremony will be held at 8 a.m. at Golden Bauhinia Square in Wan Chai. The event will be attended by Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu and senior government officials. Please note that no public viewing area will be set up for this ceremony.

At the same time, a helicopter formation fly-past by the Government Flying Service is scheduled near Victoria Harbour. Additional fly-pasts will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Monday and 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club will host a themed race at the Sha Tin Racecourse with free admission to the public starting from 11:45 a.m. The first race is set to begin at 1 p.m.
