In a significant development, two major US companies, T-Mobile and Molson Coors, have announced the appointment of Indian-origin executives as their new CEOs. Srinivas Gopalan will take over as CEO of T-Mobile starting November 1, while Rahul Goyal will assume the CEO role at Molson Coors beginning October 1.

### Srinivas Gopalan to Lead T-Mobile

Currently serving as T-Mobile’s Chief Operating Officer, Srinivas Gopalan will succeed Mike Sievert as the company’s next CEO. Mike Sievert will transition into a newly created role as Vice Chairman.

Gopalan’s career journey includes graduating from Delhi Public School RK Puram and IIM Ahmedabad. He began his professional path at Unilever India before moving to Accenture. Over the years, he has held senior leadership positions at Vodafone, Bharti Airtel, Capital One, and Deutsche Telekom Germany, bringing extensive global experience to his new role.

### Rahul Goyal Named CEO of Molson Coors

Rahul Goyal, with Molson Coors since 2001, is set to replace Gavin Hattersley as CEO of the multinational brewing company headquartered in Chicago. Throughout his tenure, Goyal has held pivotal roles such as Global CIO and CFO for Molson Coors’ India business.

A graduate of the University of Mysore and the University of Denver, Goyal brings expert knowledge in global strategy and operations. His leadership is expected to guide the company through evolving consumer trends and increasing trade tariffs in the US market.

### Context: Ongoing H-1B Visa Fee Debate

These executive appointments come amid ongoing controversy surrounding the Trump administration’s proposal to impose a $100,000 fee on new H-1B visa applications. This decision has raised concerns among IT professionals and corporations dependent on skilled migration.

Indian IT professionals constitute a majority of H-1B visa recipients, and this policy change introduces significant uncertainty for them. Nevertheless, the rise of leaders like Srinivas Gopalan and Rahul Goyal underscores the vital role Indian-origin professionals play in the leadership of major US companies despite immigration policy challenges.

These appointments highlight not only individual success stories but also the enduring contributions of Indian-origin talent to the global business landscape.
