Instagram hits 3 billion Monthly Active Users

As Instagram continues to amass more users, the picture and video-sharing app has reached a new milestone. Instagram has now achieved 3 billion Monthly Active Users (MAUs), making it the third Meta-owned app to reach this feat.

Mark Zuckerberg confirmed today that Instagram hit the 3 billion MAU mark, as reported by CNBC. This milestone represents a significant portion of the global population and places Instagram in the same elite group as Facebook and WhatsApp.

“What an incredible community we’ve built here,” Zuckerberg said of the news.

Meta has stopped reporting MAU figures for its apps on a quarterly basis but continues to share these numbers when major milestones are reached. Instagram previously crossed the 2 billion Monthly Active Users milestone back in 2022, while Facebook hit the 3 billion MAU milestone in 2023.

Over the years, Instagram has continued to roll out new features, with recent additions focusing heavily on video-sharing and AI integration to enhance user experience.

Meta is set to report its next round of earnings in October, which may provide further insights into the platform’s growth and future plans.
