Portugal to Recognize a Palestinian State, Government Says
Portugal will join a handful of other European Union members in supporting the recognition of a Palestinian state, the government announced.
Paulo Rangel, Portugal’s Minister of State and Foreign Affairs, addressed this development during a High-level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution. The event took place at the United Nations headquarters in New York City on July 29, 2025.
