More Visible and Credible: NATO Debuts Eastern Sentry After Russian Drone Incursions

In response to recent Russian incursions involving drones, NATO has launched Operation Eastern Sentry, a strategic framework designed to enhance the alliance’s defensive capabilities along its eastern borders. This operation allows commanders to swiftly deploy fighters, sensors, and ground-based air defense systems to counter emerging threats effectively.

As part of this initiative, Norway’s Air Force F-16 fighters and Italy’s Air Force Eurofighter Typhoon fighters regularly patrol the Baltic region. These patrols form an integral part of NATO’s air policing mission, conducted from bases such as Zokniai Air Base near Siauliai, Lithuania.
